Ghanaian Coach Otto Addo survives another scare after his team clashed with Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium in their bid to secure a spot in the World Cup final 2026.
The Ghanaian team after drawing against Chad got the netizens ablaze with comments directed at the gaffer and why he should be at post.
The crucial game against Mali ended up calming fuming supporters who filled the stadium to support the Black Stars.
While Ghana prepared to face Mali, Madagascar had beaten Chad by 3-1. A loss to Ghana against Mali would have placed Ghana and Madagascar on 16 points with two more games hence Ghana needed something special.
Benjamin Asare started in post for the Black Stars and ended up winning the cheers of the fans yet again.
The struggle was real from the start as Mali started the game with lots of pace and seriousness, they held Ghana in their half with majority of possession before the game settled.
With the names Ghana paraded, many questioned the ability of the coach to utilise their talents but he rather left the fans in suspense.
Alexander Djiku in the 49’ minute connected to a lose ball from a Jordan Ayew cross to give Ghana the most sorted after lead and that was enough to see them snatch all three points.
Coach Otto Addo in his previous game took the lead against Chad and just when many thought he was going to enforce his team, he took out his best performing players.
He did same against Mali after a double sub for Mohammed Kudus and Jordan Ayew who were holding the play for Ghana. His team started to feel the pressure but Benjamin Asare was up to the task with another wonderful performance to ensure Ghana ended the game with the lone goal victory.
