England hosting Spain was on of the most anticipated games in the UEFA Nations league looking at the team both sides parade and the game which seemed to would be one sided ended up giving fans a scepticle.

Wembley Stadium has always been one of the stadiums that continues to bring football to live and the expectations from both sides made it worth the while for fans who travelled from far and near to fill up the stadium.

The Spanish team known for their flamboyant way of playing started the game in similar style and started to produce results early in the game.

Lamine Yamal lurking behind the England defence paid off in the 2′ as Marc Guéhi’s mistake gifted Spain the ball in an advantageous area. The Fc Barcelona and Spanish star calmly collected the ball and slotted it past James Trafford. Guéhi’s tracking back to recover was a bit short on pace for Yamal who was full of energy.

The game took a swift turn in the 36′ as England found their own break. The counter attack started Harry Kane who found Anthony Gordon in space. The ball was soon released to Jude Bellingham who took to his heels till he made it past the centre perimeter before releasing the ball back to Gordon who was on his right. While Bukayo Saka played the dummy, Gordon with a low shot slotted the ball past Unai Simón to level up for the Three Lions of England.

It was game on this moment, the dugout for the England team looked poised for more action and Harry Kane responded to the chants from the crowd.

Four (4) minutes after drawing blood, Gordon sent Nick O’Reilly on a nice run where he sent a cross into the Spanish box, Harry Kane who was lingering around saw the opening and headed the ball towards near post where Marc Cucurella was defending but the Real Madrid left back could not cut Kanes header out. Kane made it 2-1 for England in the 40′.

England went into the half with a 2-1 lead and returned with an even greater opportunity to increase their tally just minutes after resuming play.

In the 54′, England were awarded a penalty kick where many believed is the specialty of Harry Kane who has already netted one for the night. Rodri conceded a penalty after tripping Jude Bellingham from a counter attack that posed a goal risk. The centre referee stopped play in the 52′ as VAR check was in progress as waving on play initially, he changed the call and decided to award a penalty for England in the 53′.

Harry Kane took the ball with fury in his eyes, he took the shot but the ball comes off the crossbar to keep Spain in the game. His miss became the torment for his side as Àlex Baena who came on as a substitute for Nico Williams draw parity for Spain on the hour mark. It was another sloppy defensive blunder from O’Reilly whose intended pass to Marc Guéhi went straight to a Spaniard.

With lots of chances being created by both sides, it was obvious the game was going to produce a winner but who was the question until the silent goal poacher Mikel Oyarzabal came into the picture.

Baena who had just drawn level pegging for Spain made sure to add more sugar to the team as he stringed a beautiful pass to Oyarzabal who lifted it pass Trafford in the 74′ to give Spain a 2-3 lead.

The hosts tried everything to salvage a point against Spain but they closed them out on every possible opening, holding on to majority of possession and dictating the pace of the game.
