Former Real Madrid player and manager Zinedane Zidane did magnificent during his time as Real Madrid manager winning a couple of laurels for the club while maintaining a proportional balance in their games against fierce rivals Fc Barcelona.

Many managers who have been sacked or resigned from Real Madrid have sited one or two reasons which included disrespect in the dressing room and board influence making it difficult for a manager to use the players they want to.

At a point in time, Karim Benzima was a problem at Real Madrid but remained untouchable by any manager among other players. Xabi Alonso after parting ways with Real Madrid stated the players’ are given too much power making it difficult for him to get them to work like he would want them to.

Zidane spoke on his relationship with the dressing room when he first joined Real Madrid in 2016,

“In Real Madrid we were available to the players. For me, that’s what makes the team strong, you’re there for the players. If you don’t understand this, you can’t last in this profession.

We are there to support them, you have to show that you are there for them. For the locker room to accept what you want to implement, we have to like them. If the players do no agree with everything they are given, the training, all that…something will always be missing. With us, I think they enjoyed it a lot at all levels.

We instill a lot of confidence in the players. They had gone through a bad streak and needed to regain confidence, physical form, everything. We created an environment where they could recover everything. When a player is competitive, he is happy to train and go out to play. I tried to make them see that everyone was important. Uf they didn’t train well, they couldn’t play. If on Monday you know who is going to play on Saturday, bad. The players who don’t play are not going to train well.”

He continued to say, “in January 2016 we would not have beaten either Barca or Atleti. I told my players that only if we worked together could we beat them, and that’s what happened. At the end of the season we beat both. FC Barcelona in the league and Atletico in the Champions league.”

This makes it looks as though Xabi Alonso lost it while trying to implement his philosophy although same might have worked for him while managing German side Bayern 04 Leverkusen.
