Spanish tactician Xabi Alonso after creating a monstrous team with Bayern 04 Leverkusen and winning the German Bundesliga for the club became the talk of town before his more to his former club Real Madrid to succeed Carlo Ancelotti.
Many believed he was going to win or follow in the steps of Zidane who wrote his own story with the club but his stint was cut short.
Alonso was paid between €7m and €9m for his six-months tenure at Real Madrid as his contract with the club included a clause stating that if he were fired during his first season, he would only be compensated for the remainder of that specific season.
There have been rumours that Real Madrid star-man Kylian Mbappe knew Xabi Alonso would lose his job as the manager should be lose the Supercopa which prompted his travel from Saudi Arabia to join the club but still could not manage a win over their fierce rivals.
A lot of things enfolded after the Supercopa as reports suggest as at 7:15am when the players landed in Madrid after their defeat, they headed straight to Valdebebas to pick up their cars and returned home.
Florentina Pérez was reportedly furious following the El Classico defeat. The Real Madrid board met shortly after and made the decision to sack Xabi Alonso. In a meeting that lasted only 20 minutes, a decision to sack Alonso had been reached as he was informed in his office of his future with the club.
Many also believe Xabi Alonso left Real Madrid on his own with reasons which are relatable. Alonso was exhausted by the ego and the lack of respect, which intensified in recent days. Some players were even walking during training sessions ans showed clear disinterest.
In a widely circulated post, Xabi Alonso was pointing at to the Real Madrid Board that the players were given too much power. “It is impossible for a coach to control the dressing room if the club is always on the players’ side.”
Imagine being reminded as a player to be reminded constantly to do gym work, pressing drills and tactical exercises. Some players were noted to arrive at the last minute, completed the session and left immediately.
Jude bellingham, Rodrygo Goes and Thibout Courtios were three outstanding players thats expressed their genuine concern and support for Xabi Alonso back in December.
The Official statement after his contract with the club came to an end read,
“Reak Madrid announces that, by mutual agreement between the club and Xabi Alonso, it has been decided to end his tenure as first-team coach.
Xabi Alonso will always have the respect and admiration of the entire Real Madrid family as a club legend who has always represented our values. Real Madrid will always be his home.
The club thanks Xabi Alonso and the entire coaching staff for their work and dedication, and wishes him every success in his next stage.”
