The unfortunate incident that has take the lives of two confidants of British/Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has caused a widespread of divided opinion and safety measures on the road in Africa.

Anthony Joshua visited Nigeria with his two friends who double as part of his team after defeating Jake Paul in the United States of America only to be met with such hash fate.

His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State after numerous reports of lost lives have come out to confirm in a lengthy statement both explaining the incident and also extending his condolences to all parties.

“I wish to confirm that earlier today, Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian two-time unified world heavyweight boxing champion, was involved in a road traffic accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The vehicle conveying his four-man team collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives.

On behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, I extend my deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased. I pray that God grants them the strength to bear this painful loss.

Anthony Joshua and one other passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised medical facility in Lagos. Following several clinical assessments, doctors have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency interventions at this time. A comprehensive medical team has been assembled and will continue to monitor them closely.

I am informed that Anthony Joshua is conscious and relating well with his family.

The Governments of Lagos and Ogun States are closely monitoring the situation and will ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash have already commenced.
