The Nigerian Football Federation’s General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi has made a couple of allegations targeted at DR Congo after Nigeria was beaten by the former in their pursuit for World Cup action.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria after having fought a similar battle to get South Africa lose points to stand a chance of qualification still suffered a defeat to DR Congo in their playoffs only for fresh news to arise.

Dr. Sanusi in his statement claimed, “FIFA was deceived into clearing some DR Congo players because it was not FIFA’s responsibility to interpret or enforce domestic citizenship laws.”

He continued to say, “DR Congo law does not permit dual citizenship, yet some of the players involved reportedly hold dual nationality.”

Dr. Sanusi was the same person whose reaction over the delayed deduction of points from South Africa made airwaves yet his nation failing to qualify.

While many believe Nigeria deserve to be at the Mundial, many also claim the Super Eagles and its leadership are “sore losers” as they were unable to make it out of the group like others.

As we await the official announcement from FIFA based on their findings, Nigerians are hopeful they can still make a cut for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Stay tuned for more updates on this matter.
