Manchester United are hitting back at critics with results on the field and the EPL table as they climb to fifth position after their victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

When Sunderland were running rampage, it took Manchester United to bring them under control and now they inflict more damage to relegation bound Wolves.

Manchester United went into the game with a plan knowing perfectly that a win brings them close to the top four as Chelsea Fc were held to a draw by AFC Bournemouth. They went all out tactically disciplined and ready for action and it paid off.

André set off Manchester United in the 24’ minute after his delay to release the ball saw him dispossessed in a 2-on-1 situation, Cunha who had the chance of putting the Red Devils in front cut it back to Bruno Fernandez who slipped but managed to get up and slot in the opener in the 25’.

Wolves hit back with a response in the 45+2’ as Wolfe sent in a cross which was cut back in an attempted shot only to find Bellegarde who managed a half volley for an equaliser.

Manchester United returned from the break with a different sense of urgency and made sure to go at Wolves who couldn’t hold them. Bryan Mbeumo in the 51’ made it 1-2 for Manchester United after Diogo Dalot helped him beat the offside line before sending a diagonal pass to the Cameroonian.

It swiftly moved from managing the game to a beating as Bruno Fernandez sent in a wonderful pass, lofting the ball over the Wolves defence to find Mason Mount in open space. Mount whose eyes were targeted at the ball calmly placed it past Sam Johnstone in the 62’ while the Wolves defence watched on to see if the goal will be ruled offside.

It was now 1-3 to Manchester United with the result pushing them to the 6th position on same point with Chelsea. The Red Devils continued to torment the Wolves defence with series of attacks and got awarded a penalty kick in the 81’. A cross into the Wolves box saw Amad hitting one on target but his effort was blocked by the arm of Yerson Mosquera.

Bruno Fernandez who opened the scoring for Manchester United took to the spot and made it 1-4 for Manchester United in the 82’.

After fifteen (15) games, Chelsea are tied on points with Manchester United (25 points) as the race for European competition intensifies.
