Arsenal Fc could not survive the fury of Aston Villa as they visited the Villa Park in their bid to increase their points at the top of the EPL table.

Since losing to Liverpool Fc on the 31st of August 2025, Arsenal Fc started to build a winning streak in all competitions proving beyond doubt they were ready for the ultimate.

The Gunners who have kept a fine record including beating the likes of Bayern Munich in the UCL could not get the expected result which left the team disappointed after the end of proceedings.

Aston Villa have been building their own momentum in the league and made sure to make Arsenal have a taste of their dose with Matty Cash giving Villa hope.

Villa could have taken an early lead after Ollie Watkins broke free from Calafiori but after dazzling through Timber and Gabriel but his solo effort was saved by David Raya.
Chances were flying in from both teams and Arsenal found the back of the net in the 21’ after stringing a couple of passes together but Eberechi Eze’s goal was ruled offside.

Matty Cash in the 36’ gave Villa the lead with an absolute banger after finding himself unmarked at the far post sending the ball through the legs of Raya.

The hosts went into the break holding on to their lone goal lead but that changed minutes into the second half. Arteta in the 46’ subbed Eze for Leandro Trossard who has been rescuing them in similar situations.

Trossard repaid his dues to Arteta in the 52’ with a close range finish to level up for the league leaders after his first attempt missed the post by some inches. This was a worthy response from the leaders as they started to change the pace with the aim of building on the equaliser.

The teams started to take turns on chances not the notable clear chances falling to Arsenal but they weren’t able to convert.

In the 90+5’ Arsenal’s failure to calmly their lines got them in an awkward situation when Buendia in a scrappy situation saw himself positioned well for a strike that broke Arsenal hearts.

Villa who threw the first blow made sure to end it with a victory that will live to hunt Mikel Arteta and his team.
