Krobea Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the Continental Club Masters, Accra Hearts of oak tie on points in the ongoing Ghana Premier league season after the former managed to comeback from a two (2) goals deficit to secure a vital point against Medeama SC at home.
Asante Kotoko hosted current league leaders Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi with high hopes following their defeat to Basake Holy Stars in a 2-1 showdown.
Coach Abdul Karim Zito whose promise to bring glory to the club seems to be taking a stumble had his side fire back a quick response to turn things around for the team.
Medeama SC who remain one of the formidable teams in the league started the game with precision only to lose focus in the hour mark where they got punished.
While Asante Kotoko were yet to decide how to to at Medeama SC, Derrick Fordjour was thinking of something else. In the 5’ Fordjour gave Medeama SC the lead sending a statement across. Asante Kotoko started to settle in the game while closing some of the loopholes only to concede a penalty.
Medeama SC had the chance to go two goals up and Yusif Mubarik ensured same. In the 19’, Mabarik took responsibility after his side was awarded a penalty and slotted it in to give Medeama SC a 0-2 lead over fierce rivals Asante Kotoko.
The visitors continued to torment the hosts before going into the half only to return and give it all away.
The complacent play in the team after going two goals up was evident but the stellar performance by Asante Kotoko in the second half is worth commending.
On the hour mark, Peter Amidu Acquah had a wonderful chance which he did not law waste as he pulled one back for Asante Kotoko. It was games on with the hosts piling pressure on Medeama SC after reducing their lead.
Medeama SC sure managed to frustrate the hosts leading into added time. Asante Kotoko had already lost to Holy Stars and this would be their second defeat. The mentality of the team was one beyond comprehending as Ndongani Samba Gilbani levelled for the Porcupine warriors in the 90+5’.
The Porcupine warriors have now won one out of their last five games as they prepare to face Hohoe United.
