One of the most anticipated games in the English Premier League proved to live up to its hype as Chelsea and Arsenal share the spills at the Stamford Bridge in their meeting.
Chelsea Fc who remain unbeaten in their last five matches faced a title contending Arsenal who are unbeaten in all competitions this season.
Arsenal Fc who still seek to turn their fortunes around did not find it easy as Chelsea Fc made sure to have them dig deep to clinch a point.
The stats for the game was testament to how serious both sides were as Arsenal Fc recorded a total of six (6) yellow cards against Chelsea Fc who recorded one (1) yellow and one (1) red card.
Although the first half remained a draw, Arsenal were given a man advantage in the 38’ as Moises Caicedo was handed a direct red card following his stomping challenge on Mikel Merino. The initial yellow card shown to Caicedo was contested by the player but after a review on the screen, Anthony Taylor changed his original call to dismiss Caicedo.
Arsenal Fc were already enjoying majority of possession although Chelsea Fc remained firm in their approach to the game. Reece James because a man possessed on the field after Caicedo was sent off and started to deliver his ‘known for performance’
Chelsea Fc with a man down got the opener in the 48’ of the second half and it all started with Reece James who was on fire. James sent in a cross which was headed home by Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah.
The game got rather interesting from there as Arsenal fc started to move the ball around but none troubled the Chelsea lines until the 59’ when a lapse in concentration saw Mikel Merino heading home a cross from Bukayo Saka. Merino appeared unmarked with lots of room to operate behind the Chelsea Fc defence as he pulled parity for Arsenal.
As many fans believed Arsenal Fc will make good the man advantage, Enzo Maresca made sure to get his tactics right matching Arteta with the right players ended the game in 1-1 draw.
Arsenal fc remain leaders of the EPL with 30 points as Manchester City climb to second with 24 points leaving Chelsea and Aston Villa at third and fourth on 24 points.
