The Club World Champions climbed to second place on the league log after the return from international break following their victory over Burnley at the Turf Moor.
Enzo Maresca who continues to experiment with his selection kept two of his best players on the bench in Moises Caicedo and Estêvão Willian. Cole Palmer who due due to return to action suffered another toe injury leaving him out of the squad.
Burnley had been winless in their last two games before hosting Chelsea Fc and looked to cause trouble as they held the Blues till the half-hour mark.
Jamie Gittens who has been promising since his addition to the squad proved yet again he can be productive after his stunning cross right outside the Burnley box found Pedro Neto who headed it in for a Chelsea Fc lead in the 37’.
While Chelsea Fc tried to increase their lead, Burnley were equally creating chances at goal but majority of their efforts got saved. The first half ended with Chelsea Fc holding on to their lone goal lead with lots of room for improvement.
The second half was nothing different from the first as possession remained a bit in favour of Chelsea Fc (56%). Chelsea Fc were knocking at the goal of Burnley having won nine (9) corner kicks.
Maresca who had doubts about his side leading by a lone goal decided to throw on Estêvão Willian in the 87’, after his touchline warmup and waiting to be subbed, Enzo Fernandez lashed in the second for Chelsea in the 88’.
This was enough to secure Chelsea Fc maximum points and a push on the league log. Enzo Maresca who was about to throw on Estêvão changed his mind padding the player on his back to the bench.
The Club world champions have a crucial game against Fc Barcelona on Tuesday in the Champions League and resting up some of the key players in key. Estêvão who was on fire for Brazil during international break will be instrumental during their clash against Fc Barcelona.
Chelsea Fc could maintain their three points differential if Tottenham Hotspur is able to hold Arsenal’s fire power at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 23rd November 2025.
