Ghana’s impressive run in the ITF/CAT African Junior Championships 2025 hit a tough hurdle today as the U12 boys fell 0–3 to hosts Morocco in their final Group B match in Casablanca. Despite the defeat, the young Ghanaian team remains firmly in contention and now turns its attention to the crucial semi-final stage.

Blessing Sewornu opened the day for Ghana and delivered a spirited performance, pushing his Moroccan opponent to the limit in a tense three-set encounter. After narrowly losing the first set 7–6, Blessing responded strongly to take the second set 6–1. In the deciding set, he fought bravely but fell 7–5 in a tight finish, giving Morocco the first point of the tie.

In the second singles match, Maxwell Antwi struggled to find his rhythm against a highly confident Moroccan player. Maxwell worked hard but ultimately lost 6–0, 6–2, handing Morocco a 2–0 lead and securing the tie.

Doubles Pair Fights Hard but Falls Short
In the doubles, Jeff Dowouna teamed up with Blessing Sewornu in an attempt to salvage a point for Ghana. The duo showed strong teamwork but faced a sharp and coordinated Moroccan pair, losing 6–1, 6–4.

Despite the 0–3 loss, Ghana’s earlier victories ensured their place in the next phase. The team now regroups with renewed focus as they prepare for the semi-finals, determined to respond strongly and continue their quest for a podium finish.

Ghana’s young stars remain motivated and united, ready to bounce back with the resilience and fighting spirit they have shown throughout the tournament.
