The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), led by its President Mr. Richard Akpokavie, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to athlete development by responding swiftly to an appeal from the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF). In a gesture both timely and deeply impactful, the GOC supported the junior national tennis program with a Cedi equivalent of USD 3,000, strengthening the federation’s ability to prepare and send its young athletes to international competitions.

The support arrives at a crucial moment for Ghana’s rising tennis stars, as the nation continues to push its footprint onto the continental and global stage. For many young athletes competing outside the country, financial backing often determines access to opportunities, from travel arrangements to competition logistics. The GOC’s intervention has therefore become more than funding; it is an investment into futures waiting to be shaped.

According to the Ghana Tennis Federation, this assistance reflects the core philosophy championed by the GOC under Mr. Akpokavie: placing athletes first in every strategic decision. The federation emphasized that this support did not only ease the financial burden but also boosted the morale of players and coaches preparing to represent Ghana with pride.

“We at the GTF are profoundly grateful to the Ghana Olympic Committee,” the federation noted. “Their timely intervention reaffirms their vision of prioritizing athletes and ensuring Ghanaian sportsmen and women have the resources and confidence to compete at the highest levels.”

At a time when nurturing young talent is more vital than ever, the collaboration between the GOC and GTF stands as a model of purposeful leadership. It signals a shared commitment to building a future where Ghanaian athletes, whether on the court, track, or field, rise with the full strength of national support behind them.
