Days after clinching victory against Zach Parker at the Co-op Live Arena, Manchester, British boxer Joshua Buatsi visited Ghana his native country first to show solidarity to late Ernest Akushe’s family and also to promote his fight which is scheduled for 20th December 2025.

Joshua Buatsi held the World Boxing Organization interim light-heavyweight title from 2024 to 2025. At regional level, he has held the British light-heavyweight title twice between 2019 and 2024; and the Commonwealth light-heavyweight title in 2024.
We met up with the boxer at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, 12 November 2025 where he highlighted his ambition and expectations for the IBF Africa Featherweight title between Laryea and Dorgbetor played for 20th December 2025 at the Legon Sports Stadium.

“I have high expectations of both boxers, to be called the ‘expensive boxer’ doesn’t come with laziness, but I have watched Dorgbetor during the Dubai Grand Prix. Both boxers have a lot to give. I can’t point out a winner but I can promise there is going to be fireworks.” said Buatsi.
Mubarak Yusif Nanor who was present added, “I have made a lot of matches and this is going to be one of the best from the bag. You know the suspension was just lifted on boxing and we are here to see the NSA director for some deliberations before the fight.”
He went on to highlight how prepared the boxers are mentally, emotionally and physically as they all were connected to late Ernest Akushe in a way.

“The team responsible will not do any shabby work regarding medical examination of both boxers as we have seen the aftermath of same. I just want boxers to have that believe and confidence again. We need to produce world champions and this is another opportunity to get closer to the target.” added Mr. Nanor.
We will keep you updated and bring you every information regarding the fight in due course.
