The struggle continues for for UCL, Europa winner Jose Mourinho as his current club continues to suffer series of defeats in the international competitions.

Benfica lost to Newcastle, Chelsea Fc and now Bayern 04 Leverkusen at home in the UEFA champions league.

Jose Mourinho is a manager who has been there and seen it all so many believe he can turn things around for Benfica in the UCL but it seems like a tough ladder to climb.

It was a match with lots of tension as both teams chased their first victory in the UCL campaign after match day three.

Benfica and Jose Mourinho were just unlucky many would say as they had the greatest chances but missed majority while’s hitting the post twice.

Dodi Lukébakio almost gave the fans a stunner in the 10’ after lifting the ball over Mark Flekken but he didn’t get the technique right hitting the post with his effort. Dodi kept pushing with other opening that called for superb saved throughout the game.

Bayern 04 Leverkusen also had their share of action as Ernest Poku’s shots went inches away from the post with others being saved.

Vangelis Pavlidis had the best of chances for Benfica but he couldn’t convert any as he drowsed in his own despair. Nicolás Otamendi also came close to getting Benfica ahead from a cross but his header hit the crossbar.

Patrik Schick who came on in the 57’ proved his manager right with the only goal of the match. His initial effort was saved as his teammate pounced on the rebound which was also saved but found its way back to Schick who comfortably headed it in for the opener.

Benfica went all out and did everything right against Bayern 04 Leverkusen but the visitors made sure to remain resolute in defending till the end of the game.

Jose Mourinho and Benfica now find themselves at the bottom of the UCL table with Ajax Amsterdam.
