Arne Slot and his side finally broke the jinx to their winless record in the EPL after securing a convincing victory over Aston Villa at Anfield.

Liverpool Fc have been winless in their last four games before hosting Aston Villa and many believed it was going to be a tough test for the Reds but they managed to turn the tides around.

Aston Villa who handed Manchester City a lone goal defeat were looking to add Liverpool Fc to the list of big names but Arne Slot and his team needed it more as the trend of defeats started to shake his position as manager.

Morgan Rodgers almost snatched the lead for Aston Villa in the 9’ but his effort struck the post leaving a sigh of relief on the face of Slot, minutes after their chance, Szoboszlai released one from yards out and his effort was just inches off the post.

In the 19’ and 23’, Matty Cash whose goal gave Villa the win over Manchester City struck one which called for a super gave from Mamardashvili. The ball took a deflection but got saved hitting the post on its way out.

Ekitike got the opener minutes before the break but his goal was ruled offside before Mohammed Salah rose to the occasion.

In the 45+1’, Emiliano Martinez, one of the best goalkeepers in the league made a silly mistake passing the ball took Mohammed Salah in his box and got punished for the opener.

Gravenberch got the second for Liverpool Fc in the 58’ after his shoot took a wicked deflection on its way leaving Martinez motionless while the ball went into the net.

Liverpool Fc from then wore off any goal threats from Aston Villa ending the game at a 2-0 scoreline.

The next game for Liverpool at Anfield is against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League and their victory against Villa will go a long way to motivate the lads.
