Swansea City wanted to cause another upset in the EFL but Pep Guardiola and his men were up to the task after overturning their deficit to win convincingly at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Swansea City progress to play against Manchester City after beating Nottingham Forest by 3-2 and got the opener against Manchester City who were still trying to get a hold of themselves.
A long pass from midfield and the ball was already in the Manchester City goal box. Josh Key who controlled the ball inside the City goal area saw Franco charging from behind and left it clean, Franco struck the ball perfectly into the top right corner where Trafford had no answers to. Franco’s 12’ goal helped remind City to add some urgency to their play and did.
Swansea City tried to block all openings to Manchester City but the visitors possessed too much power and creativity in their lineup to be held back. Jeremy Doku equalised for Manchester City in the 39’ after drawing three Swansea defenders on.
The half ended a stalemate but the return differentiated who wanted it the most. Ryan Cherki took on the Swansea defence and found Omar Marmoush in space, he set one up for him in the 77’ and Marmoush did not disappoint as he shot Manchester City into a 1-2 lead.
In the 90+3’, Ryan Cherki who set up the second goal for City added his name to the score sheet with a stunner to make it 1-3 for Manchester City.
Following Swansea City’s defeat to Manchester City, the Swans have recorded three defeats, a lose and a draw in their last five games.
City progress to the next stage while Tottenham and Liverpool crash out.
