Chelsea Fc are doing everything right at this point but fans are worried about how easy the club keeps conceding goals.
The current World Club Champions were hosted at the Molineux Stadium for their EFL clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers where both teams showed promise.
Enzo Maresca as always went in with a team that sparked controversy as his defensive pair has always let him down. With a lot of option at his disposal, Maresca still suffers with his defensive lines where many believe will be his target in the January transfer window.
The game started with Chelsea in front and pushing for an early opener while Wolves were still not settles. Just when the hosts could get things together, Andrey Santos who is an unlikely scorer broke the deadlock putting Chelsea in the lead with just 5’ on the clock.
Like their UCL fixture against Ajax, Maresca fielded three youngsters in Gittens, George and Estêvão and they did not disappoint. George who got a goal in the UCL tie gave Chelsea their second in the 15’ after a linkup play with Gittens.
It looked like a done and dusted game for Chelsea Fc even before the break as the two Brazilians Santos and Estêvão added a touch of magic. Estêvão who has been spectacular in the absence of Palmer did not just add the third goal for Chelsea but did it in style, lifting the ball over José Sà in the 41’ before heading into the break.
The flaw of Chelsea Fc started to show in the second half when a slight drop in concentration saw Buonanotte gift the ball to Hee-chan who saw his teammate Tolu Arokodare in space. Tolu timed his run perfectly to catch Hee-chan’s pass and slotted it in to reduce their deficit to 1-3.
Wolves got their second goal in the 73’ after a long throw from Mosquera which was not dealt with by the Chelsea defence found Wolfe whose left shot stun the Blues.
Liam Delap who came on as a sub after his injury got involved in two situations where he received two yellow cards in the 79’ and 86’ to be sent off.
Wolves has a man advantage with four minutes of the clock plus stoppage time. Gittens almost stole the show with his half-volley goal in the 89’ to increase Chelsea’s scoring tally to 2-4.
Wolfe who scored Wolves second goal added his second and third for Wolves in the 90+3’ after another defensive scramble but Chelsea held on to keep the scoreline at 3-4 to progress in the EFL.
