The Black Queens of Ghana have officially booked their place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco after a dominant 4–0 victory over Egypt at the Accra Sports Stadium yesterday, Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The result sealed a comprehensive 7–0 aggregate triumph following Ghana’s earlier 3–0 win in Cairo.

Although the Accra Sports Stadium was not filled to capacity, the atmosphere was lively and electric, with drums, songs, and flags adding color to an evening that will be remembered for Ghana’s sheer dominance and precision.

After a balanced first half, the Queens came alive after the break. Doris Boaduwaa broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute, calmly converting after Ghana’s sustained pressure. Just three minutes later, she doubled the lead with another composed finish in the 55th minute.

The momentum didn’t stop there. Defender Comfort Yeboah scored her first-ever international goal in the 57th minute, extending Ghana’s lead to 3–0 and putting the game far beyond Egypt’s reach.

In added time, Boaduwaa completed her hat-trick (90+2’) to seal a 4–0 victory and round off an unforgettable night for the forward, who was simply unstoppable.

The Queens had earlier defeated Egypt 3–0 away in Cairo, courtesy of goals from Boaduwaa, Mary Amponsah, and Grace Asantewaa, in a match that also saw Egyptian defender Habiba Essam Mohammed sent off for a reckless challenge.

After the final whistle in Accra, the Queens celebrated passionately, embracing one another, singing victory songs, and waving the Ghana flag in pride.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren lauded his team’s spirit and focus across both legs:
“The girls showed character and commitment. They executed our plan perfectly. This qualification is not just for us, it’s for Ghana and for the next generation of women’s footballers.”
With a 7–0 aggregate victory, the Black Queens have not only qualified for the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco but have also sent a powerful message to the rest of Africa, Ghana’s women’s football is back, confident, and ready to compete at the highest level.
