After a 30-years wait, Nottingham Forest have recorded their first European competition victory kind courtesy Sean Dyche who took over as manager and had less than three days to prepare for action.
Evangelos Marinakis can now smile as the fate of his latest baby Nottingham Forest took a bright spot in their Europa league fixture against Fc Porto.
It is worth noting that Fc Porto have been unbeaten this season after eleven (11) games and came into the tie as favourites only to be stopped in their tracks by a struggling Nottingham Forest.
Sean Dyche after penning his contract said he was here to win trophies including European titles and he sure started to prove a point although it’s a far reaching project.
Nottingham Forest on the night used the City Ground to their advantage as their fans added their voice in support to cheer the lads on.
While both goals in the game came from the spot kick, Nottingham had two different scorers, after Forest were awarded their first penalty in the 19’, Gibbs-White took charge and gave his side the lead.
The players surely understood their mandate and kept to what the manager had instructed, they made little mistake against Fc Porto and made it look so effortless.
Igor Jesus added the second goal for Nottingham Forest in the 77’ after his side were awarded another penalty kick. Forest were 2-0 up and did everything possible not to slip up like that have usually done.
After going ten (10) games without a win, Nottingham Forest came back in style and did it against Fc Porto as they head into the EPL for their clash away to AFC Bournemouth.
