Belgian premier league side Club Brugge have been showcasing some great performances in the domestic league and other games before coming into their second UCL fixture against Italian side Atalanta.

Club Brugge hosted AS Monaco in their UCL opener and beat Monaco by a 4-1 margin. Ansu Fati only managed a consolation for AS Monaco in that game. Club Brugge in their last three games leading to their clash against Atalanta recorded one (1) draw and two (2) wins.

The Italian side have been struggling with their own problems and needed to turn things around and this was a perfect opportunity. Atalanta welcomed Club Brugge to the Gewiss Stadium for the UCL clash and did justice to the game.

From the start of the game, Club Brugge played comfortably showing no signs of playing away from home and their consistent performance paid off in the 38’ when Christos Tzolis shot the visitors into the lead.

Atalanta came into this fixture after drawing with Juventus and needed that mentality to savage something in the game. Club Brugge took this lone goal lead into the half and the story changed in the second half.

The hosts started playing like possessed demons and were all over the pitch. Their pressure paid off in the 73rd minute after they were awarded a penalty kick. Lazar Samardżiċ converted it calmly to bring Atalanta to parity.

Atalanta started losing possession to the visitors but still managed to turn the tides in their favour after Mario Paśaliċ broke Club Brugge hearts in the 87’ with a goal that proved to be a winner.

Nicky Hayden, Club Brugge manager made three quick changes after conceding the second goal hoping to salvage a point in the game but Atalanta held their ground to see the game through.
