Nottingham Forest after parting ways with Portuguese manager Nuno Espírito Santo have not made any positive progress in the English Premier League or any other

The plan was to find a manager who would change the fortunes of Nottingham Forest but the arrival of Australian gaffer Ange Postecoglou sure hasn’t made any positive impact yet.

Nottingham Forest have been winless in their last five games and all games under Postecoglou who won the Europa League title for Tottenham before he was fired.

Forest in their bid to find their first victory have either lost it at the dying minutes of the game or had to settle for a stalemate when it looks like they are about to clinch a win.

The pressure mounts on Ange whose assignment was to get the team to winning ways. Their EPL home game against Sunderland was a must win situation for Forest but the newly promoted side weren’t ready for any drama.

Play was smooth with Nottingham Forest holding majority of possession but making little use of it. Their sloppy play cost them in the 38’ when Sunderland were awarded a free kick. Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka placed the ball into the Forest goal area where Omar Alderete who was unmarked connected calmly to give Sunderland the lead.

Their sloppy play possession increased to 65% for Nottingham Forest but still couldn’t find the back of the net.

Chris Wood was the closest to equalise in the 80’ when a cross was swung in. Wood came dangerously close but his header was wide. The agitation of Postecoglou on the touchline explained it all. The gaffer thought that opening was his chance to an equaliser.

Coming from a loss and two draws, this should have been a positive result but sadly had to settle for another home defeat.
