Aston Villa is building their own record at home as they continue their home dominance in their European competitions.

The Villa Park is gradually becoming a fortress for Aston Villa in their European competitions as their victory against Bologna makes is seven (7) wins at home for the English Premier League side.

While other might think it’s nothing to celebrate, it’s worth noting that some of the teams they have beaten to keep this streak alive includes current European champions Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Celtic, Ckub Brugge etc.

Although Aston Villa are not in good shape domestically, they sure have proven they can compete at all levels and still produce the needed results.

Their Europa league opener was against Italian side Bologna at the Villa Park and they managed to secure the result fans were expecting.

Bologna came into this tie with a record of two (2) wins and two (2) defeats while Aston Villa were on two(2) defeats and two (2) draws.

The start of the game was slow paced but gradually gathered momentum in the minutes leading to the first quarter. John McGinn in the 13’ blasted one from outside the box to give Villa the lead and then on the team sat back to watch Bologna control the pace of the game.

The visitors having held majority of possession and shorts on target were not able to over turn the lone goal deficit. Aston Villa remained resolute in their defensive duties ensuring they managed all goal scoring opportunities from the opposition.

At the end of proceedings, McGinn’s 13’ belter was enough to give Aston Villa their first victory of the season and their seventh home victory in Europe.
