The UEFA Europa League games between Real Betis and Nottingham Forest pose another setback for Ange Postecoglou who still searches for his first win as Nottingham Forest manager.
Former Manchester United winger Antony dents Ange Postecoglou’s chance of a first victory since taking charge as manager of Nottingham Forest.
Real Betis welcomed Nottingham Forest to the Estadio de La Cartuja in their UEFA Europa cup tie where the English side sorted after their first win in all competitions but their imminent joy got shattered with minutes of the clock to go.
Nottingham Forest after 29-years returned to European action and their first challenge was to make it past Spanish side Betis.
Two time European winners Forest did everything possible in the opening minutes of the match to maintain their composure but Antony who was having a good day placed one through to Cedric Bakambu whose shot in the 15’ rattled the back of the Nottingham net to give Betis the lead.
Former Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was equally up to the task as he dazzled his way through on numerous occasions trying to find an opening but the spotlight was on Brazilian striker Igor Jesus whose European debut was about to light up.
Igor Jesus just like Bakambu was set up with a pass in the 18’ where he tapped in to draw level for his side.
Five (5) minutes after Igor’s equaliser, a cross from Douglas Luiz into the goal area of Real Betis was directed into the net by Igor whose brace gave Nottingham Forest a 1-2 lead.
This wasn’t the first time Nottingham Forest had taken the lead in a match and ended sharing the spoils but Ange hopes his side would see this through.
Real Batis were down by a 1-2 scoreline from the 24’ until a sudden twist of fate. The entire hopes of glory was shattered as Antony who assisted in Betis’s first goal found his own opening in the 85’ to level for Real Betis.
After losing to Arsenal and Swansea City, Postecoglou and his team have managed two (2) points their last two games. EPL matche against Burnley and Europa match against Real Betis.
