Lamine Yamal’s premature celebrations were cut short at the 2025 Balon d’Or in Paris. The Spaniard who has been tipped by many to win the award mainly because of his age before adding his talent managed to win the U-21 Best player but missed out on the ultimate.

With a proposed after party planned by Yamal, the young talent reportedly headed to the award ceremony with twenty (20) family members but got disappointed when Ousmane Dembélé was adjudged the best in the world.

Many already had it for Dembélé and were not surprised but the person making waves after the awards night is neither Raphinha or Lamine Yamal but a father who thinks his son deserves it more than everyone else.

Lamine Yamal is a wonderful attacker in the world but has left questionable loops around his craft. In the season under review, the Fc Barcelona star had managed nine (9) goals with three trophies as against Dembélé who won six (6).

Just like Robert Lewandowski, Andre Pirlo, Erling Haaland, Vinicius Junior, Frank Ribery and other players who lost out on the prestigious award, Lamine’s dad took to social media to showcase his displeasure about the supposed robbery.

“I believe that Lamine is the best player in the world by far, by a huge margin.
Not because he’s my son, he’s just the best in the world. I don’t think he has rivals.
I say that something very strange has happened here. Next year the Balon d’Or will be Spanish, will be ours.” Said Mounir Nasraoui.

The conversation about this awards ceremony doesn’t seem to end after Rodri won it ahead of Vinicius Junior and it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if it continues.

17-years-old Lamine Yamal still has lots of years to prove his point and even make history with a back-to-back Kopa Trophy.
