In the 37’, a chance fell for Jean-Phillippe Mateta who made the best out of it to give Crystal Palace the lead.
The visitors Palace held on the lead going into the first half and had to either improve on their performance or settle for what they already had.
The second half started with more urgency from West Ham United as they were already battling relegation in the early stages of the EPL and their urgency paid off minutes into the second half.
Jarrod Bowen drew blanks for the Hammers in the 49’ after connecting to a Malick Diouf corner kick. The Hammers would have loved for the score to remain same till the end as Palace posed more threats in front of goal.
Walker Peters came close to grabbing a winner for West Ham but his header was wide.
In the 66’, Adam Wharton sent a cross into the West Ham goal box which was shabbily defended. With the ball still in the air and all eyes glued to the ball, Tyrick Mitchell connected with a sweet volley to give Crystal Palace a 2-1 lead in the 68’.
Former Arsenal player Eddie Nketiah had his share of action after coming in for Adam Wharton in the 75’.
Crystal Palace had one job to do and they did it perfectly to secure a win at the London Stadium.
