AS Monaco shot to the spotlight after the signing of Fc Barcelona reject Ansu Fati and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba who had just finished serving a suspension term for the use of banned substance.

Club Brugge hosted AS Monaco in their UCL opener and the expectation of the French team got shattered after the end of proceedings.

Many would have thought AS Monaco would bring a challenge but the Belgian side was well prepared.

The game started with the visitors keeping a fair share of possession which eventually got them a penalty in the 9’. Maghnes Akliouche missed from the spot to keep the game blank until hands changed.

Nicolo Tresoldi did not miss his opportunity when Hans Vanaken placed one through for him to make it 1-0 for Ckub Brugge in the 32’.

Raphael Onyedika, nine (9) minutes after Tresoldi opened the scored added the second for the hosts before Vanaken who assisted in their first goal added the third in the 42’.

AS Monaco went into the break with three goals down and needed a miracle, Paul Pogba was not part of the squad as he lacked fitness but Ansu Fati was available.

AS Monaco started to string some passes together but Club Brugge were prepared for them. The hosts added the fourth in the 75’ through a linkup play between Joaquin Seys and Mamadou Diakhon (scorer).

It was all over for AS Monaco until Ansu Fati who came on as a substitute scored what could only be a consolation goal in the 90+1’ to take the score to 4-1.
