The return of the EPL saw Manchester City hosting city virals Manchester United to what one would call a bragging right game. With majority of players returning from international duty with fine form and lots of tuning it was only right to have a showcase of class.

Centre referee Anthony Taylor kicked off the Manchester derby and Pep Guardiola and his team went straight to work. It wasn’t Andre Onana in post so many would have thought the problems of Manchester United had been solved but Manchester City put them to the test right from kick off.

Jeremy Doku in the 17’ made a nice run with the ball into the goal area of Manchester United where he lofted it into an aerial position for Phil Foden who connected it beautifully to give City the lead.

The possession started to switch to the oppositions favour but were not clinical enough to make use of it. With a couple of half chances and shots off target, the derby ended the half with City leading by their lone goal.

Erling Haaland who had been on a goal scoring spree while on international duty had now remembered he needed to add to his tally.

Jeremy Doku who was having a superb day provided his second assist to Haaland who lifted the ball over Altai Bayindir to give Manchester City their second.

Both sides threw in a couple of changes but the only change that happened was another classic mistake from Harry Maguire.
Manchester United failed to control a lose ball in the centre of the pitch when Harry Maguire played the ball to Bernardo Silva, the Portuguese player lone Haaland who was in their half and had to sprint half way to slot his second for the night and the third goal for Manchester City.

Ruben Amorim looked stressed on the touch line, his team was doing everything possible to redeem themselves only that Donnarumma was ensuring their efforts resulted in no goal.

Bryan Mbeumo was the closest to drawing one back with a sweet volley but was parried out by the Italian shotstopper. His effort would have scored many EPL goalkeeper but surely not Donnarumma.

The Manchester derby ended with the hosts City beating rivals by 3-0.

The pressure continues to build on Ruben Amorim who looks likely to be the next manager to be dismissed following the abysmal performance of his team.
