The Ghana Premier League (GPL) kicked off with a wonderful opening performance from one of Ghana’s finest musicians Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy alongside other displays before the official kickoff.
Continental Club Masters Accra Hearts of Oak kicked off against Hohoe United in what would have been Mas-Ud Didi Dramani’s official test with the Phobians and the GPL opener and the rest was pure class.
It’s always been difficult to call when it’s the opener although performances from preseasons can play a factor in the current performance.
Accra Hearts of Oak surely had the better record winning a couple of trophies before the official kickoff.
The games started with Benjamin Asare in post for Hearts of Oak after his extraordinary performance for the Black Stars against Mali at the same venue.
Didi was looking to make a remarkable impression playing at home but Hohoe United came with a plan and they stuck to it perfectly.
With limited goal scoring opportunities created by both sides. Benjamin Asare had to pull another spectacular save from a crossing to prevent his side conceding.
The first half ended with no team breaking the deadlock but producing some beautiful plays which received cheers from the supporters.
The second half started with similar pace with both teams threading cautiously. Accra Hearts of Oak had an advantage in the 67’ after Solomon Adomako was sent off to give them an urge over the visitors but they could not utilise it.
Hohoe United held their grounds and defended with their disadvantage to see the match end in a draw.
