Days after Celtic acquired Kelechi Iheanacho whose contract with Sevilla had been terminated, Japan national and Celtic forward Daizen Maeda sparks another talk on his exit from the club.
While on international duty for Japan in the ongoing FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Daizen Maeda opened up on his Celtic exit.
Many have linked his exit to the club currently acquiring the services of Iheanacho while’s other have linked it to a proposed summer move to Liverpool.
“I had received an offer and was telling Celtic that I wanted to take the next step.
They weren’t able to make any good reinforcements, so in the end, they told me I couldn’t leave.
There were some things that I had agreed to personally, so I wanted to take on the challenge.
I’d been talking to the club since before the end of last season, and I’d always told them I wanted to take the next step, but we had important games, so it was difficult.” said Maeda
Brendan Rodgers will be under serious scrutiny if he is unable to turn his striking force around since many have already crucified him for agreeing to bring out of form Iheanacho.
