Sunderland’s return to the English Premier League is rather promising than expected with their confident approach and steady performances over their first three games.
Their opener in the EPL would have written them off but Regis Le Bris has been working around the clock to bring the best out of the club and it’s paying off where necessary.
Sunderland came into their fixture as favourites following their win against Burnley though Brentford remains that silent force that can break you at any given time.
Unlucky Brentford could have closed the game early into the half but missed their opportunity(s).
Dango Ouattara gave the visitors the lead in the 22’ but was ruled out following a VAR only to be awarded a penalty in the 59’ which was also missed. All indications showed Brentford weren’t having a good day.
Igor wanted to change the script and almost did after plummeting Brentford into the lead in the 77’.
Sunderland were not shuttered, they were motivated, the fans at the stadium cheered them on as if they were in the lead and that worked like magic.
Enzo Le Fée in the 82’ minute drew blood for Sunderland and it was game on. The urge to win grew stronger and the march to victory started.
In the late minutes of added time, Xhaka delivered a sweet cross into the Brentford goal box and Isidor with a bouncing heading placed it pass Kelleher.
Brentford were in the hopes of the goal been overturned after VAR checked for a possible offside situation but after checks, Sunderland’s lead stood, the crowd at the stadium could not cheer less.
The streets and pubs in Sunderland were a sight to see. Isidor made a statement after coming on as a sub and promises to give more than he did against Brentford when called to action.
