Newcastle United hosted Liverpool in their second EPL game and it was one with a lot of tension following the disappointing transfer surrounding Newcastle attacker Alexander Isak.
With the Swedish sidelined for the match due to personal reasons linked to his broken transfer the team still needed to do what they had to with or without him.
The game that started with Liverpool looking to fall behind went in their favour after a possible red card foul by Gravenberch was waved for a yellow card. Gravenberch went on to give Liverpool the lead before the break.
With Liverpool escaping an early red card, Anthony Gordon of Newcastle did not get lucky as he was sent off in the added minutes of the first half after a VAR check. Right from the break, Ekitike gave Liverpool a 2-0 lead and many thought the fight was over until ten men Newcastle decided to play football.
Guimarães and Osula equalised for Newcastle in a shocker. The game was intense and everyone on the pitch wanted to prove a point.
Rio Ngumoha came on for Cody Gakpo in the 90+6’ and gave Liverpool a beautiful gift in the 90+10 minutes.
The news would have been different but Liverpool went all out on wounded Newcastle to get the job done deep into the game.
