The traditional teams in the Ghana Premier league including Accra Hearts of Oak, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Aduana, Medeama and others have been silenced by Bibiani Gold Stars who have shown resilience throughout their champaign in the league.
Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko from the start of the league did not look contentious until they had already lost points which made it difficult for them to battle for the top honours.
Nations Fc, Hearts of Lions and Samartex looked prepared and title ready until Nations Fc and Samartex slipped and lost their title hopes.
Nations Fc who had the best chance of winning the game lost points against Heart of Lions in a game which caused lots of controversies. Their title hopes crashed since then causing their management to make publications of their willingness to suspend themselves from the league.
The decider was between Bibiani Gold Stars and Accra Lions as the top two on the league log were levelled on points. Bibiani Gold Stars whose chance of glory looked slim from the start of the league grabbed this opportunity and went all out early in the game.
Amoaful did not allow Accra Lions any time to think as he blasted his side into the lead in the 4th minute. This was what a team that wanted to win the lead needed, and at a time when Nations Fc was also struggling to keep up with Hearts of Lions.
In the space of a minute, Oppong scored a brace to give Bibiani Fc a three goal lead while the team still kept pushing for more as they did not want to be held back by any rules of the game.
Atta added the 4th in the 73rd minute to give the hosts a convincing victory and a match to celebrate. Their victory over Heart of Lions secured them the Ghana Premier league title and their players could not relax. Vincent Atinga who plays for Bibiani Gold Star was celebrating his second GPL title while their Manager Frimpong Manso was getting drenched by his team after the victory.
The gaffer could not hide his joy, this was the clubs maiden league trophy and he had led them to it.
“The joy of every coach is to see their players happy and winning, it was not easy and we also never stopped pushing even to the end. They deserve it and I am very happy I am part of this history”. said Mr. Manso
