Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak managed to make their fans happy after securing a convincing win over Accra Lions in their Ghana Premier league fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Continental Club Masters did not only save coach Abubakar Ouattara from another bashing but made the fans forget they have been calling for the sacking of the coach.

The season under review has not gone as planned for the club and its fans due to the inconsistence in their performance. Much blame has been apportioned to the coach who many suggest does not have the aura to lead Accra Hearts of Oak.

The match against Accra Lions was another test that needed to be passed at all cost, the club has struggled to win matches where they had 90% chance making this particular game a no slip-up.

Accra Hearts of Oak are eyeing a top four spot with three games to go. Their opponents included Accra Lions, Legon Cities and Samartex Fc. Winning all three might give Accra Hearts of Oak a chance to make the top four but are the players psyched enough to pull that off?

The game between Accra Hearts of Oak and Accra Lions kicked off with lots of expectations from both clubs, a reputation to keep and an ego to bruise. Accra Lions handed fierce rivals of Accra Hearts of Oak a 3-0 whooping which means winning against Accra Lions will be something to brag about whiles Accra Lions would have beaten the two giants.

The game kicked off at 1700hrs and the unnoticeable crowd in the stands hoped a miracle will happen. It didn’t take long, 12minutes into the game Enock Asubonteng gave the Phobians the lead. This was what they needed, the edge to build on. Accra Hearts of Oak were looking stable in the midfield and defence while their attackers made study progress in the front of goal.

The hosts were able to maintain their lone goal lead going into the break and continued to hold on until the 70th minute of the second half when Lawrence Setordjie drew blood for Accra Lions.

Time was running out, Accra Hearts of Oak had been stunned and needed to respond. They started playing the best football in the last 20minutes and that is where everything changed.

Kwesi Asmah blasted Accra Hearts of Oak into the lead again 11minutes after Lawrences’s equaliser before Hamza Issa added the third in the 89th minute to seal the win for Accra Hearts of Oak.

The host now place 5th on the league log after 32 games while Kumasi Asante Kotoko hold on to their 4th position with 31games.
