Samuel ‘Ring Warrior’ Takyi, the Ghanaian boxer who became a boxing sensation after winning a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games has recently been dragged on the internet following comments after being called out by another boxer.
Samuel Takyi who previously signed unto the Ike Bazuka Quartey promotions made a couple of fights which many saw was not competitive enough for the status he wanted to build. Boxing in Ghana has been marred by many such incidents where boxers building their way to the top refuse to fight boxers who they fear using funny statements including, “you are not on my level, you don’t have many stars, the purse money is too small etc.”
Joseph ‘Jaguar’ Commey another promising Ghanaian boxer who won a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth games in Birmingham. Commey since returning from the commonwealth games has taken on any boxer they was willing to mount the ring with him and finally thought it is time to fight on of his own who has been bragging on the internet for too long.
Former boxing world champion Joshua Clottey made some submissions via his social media handle advising boxers to fight the best to help shape their craft and mentality but Samuel Takyi seems to be interested in the pushover boxers.
Joseph Commey called out Samuel Takyi hoping they could give Ghanaians and the world another showdown but to his surprise, Samuel Takyi who is eyeing a world title decided to chicken out with flimsy excuses.
Samuel ‘Ring Warrior’ Takyi who has been respected a warrior turns out to be another coward who would rather fight boxers who are either retired or out of shape.
In his response to ‘Jaguar’, Takyi said, “I do not have time for these kind of people and I am not going to listen to what the crowd is saying. He is not on my level and I want to remain focused on title shot.”

Jaguar in a subtile response to Samuel Takyi added, ‘it is rather unfortunate the so called best boxers are afraid to fight one another, you are a bronze medalist from the Olympics, I am a silver medalist from the commonwealth games so what kind of level are you talking about?. We can’t all be world champions, we need to fight one another and help the best to win the world title for Ghana.”
Derrick ‘Show Love’ Quaye, Samuel Takyi and a few other boxers are making the list of ducking boxers and we will surely compile the list and publish soon.
The son of former Ghanaian heavyweight boxing sensation Braima Kamoko (Bukom Banku) signed to the Legacy Rise Sports Promotion management has proven to be the real deal. ‘Tilapia’ who made known to the boxing fans that he is ever ready to fight any boxer who calls him out has accepted to fight Stephen Ackon.
