The English Premier league is nearing the drawing of it curtains and many teams already know their fate in the current standing. While many fight for a top four spot, the three teams who have been relegated are already known.

Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town are the relegated teams while Tottenham Hotspurs place 17th on the league log with 38points after 37 games.

The game between Chelsea and Manchester United was not for survival but who moves into the top spot. Both teams have the chance of playing in the European competitions as Chelsea are in the UEFA Conference League final and Manchester United in the UEFA Europa league. Winning these respective cups sure gives them some leverage but Chelsea who do not want any surprises are making sure they secure the spot for top four action irrespective.

The match that started with Chelsea chasing after the ball soon got settled with possession being split between the two sides. Ruben Amorim since joining Manchester United has suffered some setbacks and so has Enzo Maresca whose slogan has been ‘we are building the team for the future’.

Chelsea Fc were coming into the fixture with four wins and one lose in their last five games whiles Manchester United had two wins and three loses.

The game was rushed by Manchester United whose plan was to stun Chelsea in the early minutes of the game and it almost paid off in the 16th minute of the match after Harry Maguire powered the Reds into the lead. The goal while was shouted to be offside caught the attention of centre referee Chris Kavanagh who resorted to VAR after which he ruled the goal to be offisde.

This was a relief for Chelsea Fc, their confidence was almost shattered but quickly restored after the VAR check, the started to play like they meant business and went into the break.

The second half enfolded lots of drama and scare after a penalty awarded was overturned after VAR checks. Chelsea kept knocking on the goal of Manchester United and in the 71st minute, the right back and left back of Chelsea, Marc Cucurella and Reece James combined to give Chelsea the lead with a flying header.

The hosts Chelsea held on to their lone goal lead and ensured they committed no errors. Manchester United in their pursuit for an equaliser pushed the Chelsea defence and controlled majority of possession but that was no enough to get them the needed result.

The game ended 1-0 for Chelsea Fc and helped them move to the 4th position on the EPL log
