Ghanaian pro boxer, Musah ‘Awoodade’ Lawson expresses his disappointment in Joel Camilleri after their discussions for a boxing match had to be called off.

Musah Lawson who doubles as a Prison Officer in Ghana is one of the finest boxers in Ghana who represented the country at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth games in Australia and made the country proud. He has been calling out any fighter in Ghana who quickly make excuses to chicken out.

Musah told Glitz Sports about his communication with Australian Boxer Joel ‘CamaKO’ Camilleri and how great arrangements were going until he hinted back that Joel dropped the fight with reasons he thought shouldn’t be enough to call off the fight.

In his disclosure, Musah Lawson shared,

“I spoke to Joel and we scheduled a fight, he was interested and we made progress. All that I was waiting for was the contract to sign.

Joel told me his promoter wanted the fight to be in August and I was okay, I just want to fight so the day was actually not my problem. He later said it could be July 26 or 9th August but the promoter agreed on 9th. I was so happy knowing I was going to knock him out of his sleep because he has been talking too much and doesn’t fight any good boxer. I was ready to give him a test of his life.

I was just waiting to receive the contract when Joel contacted me and said his promoter had received a few big offers for him and had to meet up during the week to see which option is best for his career. At the point I started thinking he was also trying to chicken out of the fight. He knows what I can do and he sure doesn’t want to go through with the fight.

I got in touch and told him I was not eager or forcing his to fight because he rather called for the fight so I didn’t know where the delay and constant excuses was coming from. I wasn’t having it anymore. Joel sure saw my resume before he called me out and as a brave warrior I accepted without hesitation.

Joel later got in touch only to tell me that his promoter has a good relationship with a Tanzanian fighter that they want me to fight that is rated in the top 150 and has a two star rating on boxrec. I was not surprised because I have initially said they choose push-over fighters for him and after winning he comes and make noise.

If the plan was to fight someone who is at least a two star rating why did he call me out in the first place because he saw my credentials on boxrec.”

Joel ‘CamaKO’ Camilleri who is focused on building his career wants to fight boxers who are climbing irrespective of the challenge they pose but Musah Lawson think he is only ducking because he know his career will have a major setback should he step in the ring with him.
