Emmanuel Agyemeng-Badu is a former Ghana Black stars player who has played for almost all the ranks in the national team winning the U-20 FIFA world cup in a fierce contest against Brazil.

He was one of the most versatile players for the Ghanaian team and continue to be an important figure in the Ghanaian football society.

The Ghana Black Satellites after suffering an opening setback in the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON U-20 tournament against DR Congo got many football pandits talking and Agyemang-Badu has added his opinion to the ongoing.

Football has evolved beyond names and nations as many have made it a culture and continue to perfect it by the day. The old glory of the Ghana Black Meteors, Black Satellites, Black Stars and the other national teams does not scare other nations as they have also started to ensure their skills and talents are utilised to its fullest.

Brazil, France, Spain, Germany, Argentina among other nations have had to suffer series of defeats in their campaign to glory and so has Ghana.

The Ghana Black Stars after missing out on the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON has shifted their attention to the FIFA world cup and now it is up to the Black Satellites to carry the team on in Africa.

Agyemang-Badu who should know best about the evolution of football on the continent still thinks teams play against Ghana only to prove a point.

“Opponents always want to prove a point against us, not out of fear, but to make themselves proud.” said Agyemang-Badu

This is rather a comment for the 80’s as no team qualifies for a tournament to prove a point or make themselves proud after playing against any team.

The quality of players and managers available to them contributes to the overall performance of the team and that means a team like Ghana should always be ahead in all competitions as per his assertions.

Ghana shared the spoils with DR. Congo in their CAF AFCON U-20 opener and they need to improve their game going into the second rather than think they are a powerhouse that needs to be feared because of their name.
