The Ghana Olympic Committee after a stressful yet well planned process have conducted their elections for the leadership of the Ghana Olympic Committee and the outcome of the results have wowed a couple of delegates who guessed their favourites would emerge winners.

Richard Akpokavie who is the immediate past president and an Executive Committee member of the Ghana Hockey Association made his intentions clear after contesting for the position.

After the long wait, the former distinguished national hockey player and captain who served several years on the Ghana Hockey Association as a member, vice president and president has been given the nod to lead the Ghana Olympic Committee due to the rich experience he brings to the table.

Leaderships of all federations and associations listed under the Ghana Olympic Committee were present and were the delegates who had the mandate of choosing the next leadership and Mr. Richard Akpokavie who is now President of the Ghana Olympic Committee doubles as an Executive Committee member on the African Olympic Federation, the Ghana Hockey Association and the FIH Technical Officials Committee.

Having served as the secretary general of the Ghana Olympic Committee for over eight (8) years, Mr. Akpokavie sure knows the ins and outs of the committee and is sure going to ensure the smooth running of the committee without fear or favour.

Many delegates and individuals have wished him well on his new mandate and believe he is the best man for the job ahead of other nominees.
