Mikel Arteta and his team after an impressive run in the UEFA Champions league and English Premier League have suffered another set back that possibly takes them out of the EPL title race.
Arsenal proved to the world they can be one of the best in the world after defeating Real Madrid whose current team luck any sense of urgency in the UEFA Champions league in both leg ties.
This made many teams and sports fans start taking the Gunners serious and even tipped them to give Liverpool a hard time with a title chase.
Some teams in the EPL have been seen by others as the cash cows where picking maximum points should be the prime aim but at the moment when Arsenal needed it the most, the slipped up and have made the title claim easy for Liverpool who have been on a roller coaster of a season.
The English premier league match between Arsenal and Crystal Palace at the Emirates stadium was supposed to be another easy walk-over for Arsenal but the visitors needed to prove their point came in and gave Arsenal a dose of their own medicine.
Arteta’s men were quick to announce their intentions with fierce determination in the early minutes. Martin Ødegaard who has been splendid all season for Arsenal from a free kick lofted one in which was connected perfectly by Jakub Kiwior to give Arsenal the opener.
That was supposed to be the beginning of a demolition but Crystal Palace who were in a kingdom of their own bounced back in style and gave the hosts a show to remember.
In the 27th minute, Adam Wharton crossed one in from a corner kick and Eberechi Eze with a supurb volley pounched on the ball which bounced and rolled straight into the net to give Palace the equaliser.
Arteta’s men got confused for a while after the classic from Eze but regrouped quickly and launched another attack, Leandro Trossard who always comes to the rescue sure came to play. The classic touch of a ball from Jurrien Timber and a little dazzling of the Crystal Palace defence and the ball was in the back of the net to take Arsenal back in the lead.
The first half ended with Arsenal leading with 2-1 and fans hoped it would remain same or the hosts will add a couple of goals. Opportunities flew by, spectacular saves by both shot-stoppers but Crystal Palace were not ready to leave empty handed.
With seven minutes to go, Jean-Philippe Mateta who has been the nemesis of many teams reminded Arsenal he has to be on the score sheet and boom there was the equaliser.
Liverpool and their fans who have looked on from afar waiting to see Arsenal trail finally had their prayers answered.
The match between Arsenal and Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium ended in a draw as both teams hit the back of the net twice.
Liverpool only needs a point in the next game to become the EPL champions.
