The era of Black Stars being the only or notable sports institute which commands any kind of support in Ghana is getting out of hands.
The Ghana Black Stars over the years have been cash cows for many who have either invested in the teams individual players or have some special stake in it.
The Ghana Football Association and the Ministry for Sports over the years have made it obvious the only team or national team that matters is the Black Stars and they have always tried to justify their reasons which has never sat well other stakeholders.
The Black Princesses, the Black Queens, the Black Rockets etc have received little to no publication or assistance and this has been the trend over the years.
The U21 African Hockey Cup Qualifiers which would have featured Ghana is now a dream that might only be realised if individual stakeholders come in to assist the association as they are not going to receive any assistance from government.
Mr. Isaac Graham, an Executive Board Member of Ghana Hockey Association in an interview with Sporty Fc disclosed some information which has disheartened hockey fans and stakeholders in Ghana.
Mr. Graham who in his communications made clear that they have withdrawn from the U21 African Hockey Cup qualifiers was saddened while he made his submission.
“We are a national association and deserve to be given some kind of assistance, it might not be the same as that of the other associations but we need to be considered in these budgets.
It wasn’t easy telling the players that they won’t participate in the U21 Africa Hockey Cup, but it is what is. They’re not happy.

We have officially withdrawn from the U22 African Hockey Cup qualifiers. We’ve has confirmation from the Sports Minister that they’re not in a position to help us.” said Mr. Graham.
This is very sad, the budget allocation by the government is always made in consideration of all the sports associations and federations so where did the Hockey team go wrong.
The believe that sports in Ghana is only important when it comes to the Black Stars is being backed by the decisions of the Minister and others in power. The Minister who could not give details of the budget allocation of the Black Stars during their two games against Chad and Madagascar is not in a position to help the Ghana Hockey team.
