There has been many speculations surrounding the death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Segun who suddenly passed after a fight against a Ghanaian opponent in Ghana recently. This drew many people to question the authorities and how they have managed the boxers and their medical records as well as fitness with regards to when they had to fight.
The two weeks notice that had to be presnted by the boxers team was not done and hence leading to the sudden demise of the boxer.
New that surrounded his death showed that the boxer after his fight was canceled got another fighter and started making his own arrangements which was not sanctioned.
Remi Aboderin who is the General Secretary of the Nigeria Boxing Board has been drawn into the picture following numerous allegations levied against him.
The African Boxing Union in a press release disassociated themselves from his services and have suspended his from their activities.
The release read, “Hello ABU members, warm greeting.
This press release serves to inform everyone that as per the last communication, all WABU activities are suspended and Mr. Remi Aboderin is no longer part of it.
Kindly be informed that shortly ABU will appoint the person to handle the activities of ABU West African regional title.
Thank you.”

This release was signed by the ABU Secretary General Maureen Mulangira.
In the peak of events unfolding, members of ABU have accused Mr. Aboderin for allegedly engaging in some corrupt practices with his office as Secretary.
With the President of the African Boxing Union disclaiming these facts and assuring it members that these allegations are set destabilis.e the body body and as such should be treated as void
