The UEFA Conference league has given its audience some spectacular performances just as the UEFA Champions league has but many teams who have given little to no efforts have gifted either who points or a point in their respective fixtures.

Andre Onana has been a matter of discussion in the Manchester United post since the day he joined from Ajax Amsterdam. The Cameroonian shot-stopper who sees himself as a midfielder has been bashed on numerous occasions for his sweeper roles which seems dangerous during games but nothing has changed about that.

Today in their UEFA Europa league tie away to Lyon, Onana who was tipped to will add some magic to his team gave away two goals which could have been avoided.

Lyon who have always been a tough opponent gave Manchester United a game they would want to revisit as they came all out to play football and not just defend.

Thiago Almada in the 26th minute swung in a free kick which was supposed to be an easy catch or parry by an experienced goalkeeper with Onana’s calibre but the shotstopper in his magical attempt missed the ball in a bizarre manner to concede the opener.

Manchester United who have been under a lot of heat in the EPL are still struggling to keep it locked in the European competition. Leny Yoro in the 45+5 minute connected to a shot from Ugarte which was a supposed missed target shot and secured an equaliser for the Reds.

Things were looking good for the visitor after all as Joshua Zirkzee who wasn’t allowed any room throughout the game latched on to a lose ball to give Manchester United the lead. With two minutes to bring proceedings to an end, it looked positive for Manchester United but Lyon who had been on fire all night started to use their reserved engine and started pushing towards the United goal.

Andre Onana who has been in rough shape sure had to be the one to assist the host as a shot he could parry far got spilled in a very dangerous area where Lyon had hungry goal poachers waiting.

Rayan Cherki who would continue to thank Onana for such a sweet spill with the inside of his left foot lifted the ball into the post to bring Lyon to level. With VAR checking for a possible offside, Cherki was already celebrating with the fans, the goal stood and the hopes of Manchester United leaving France with three points changed within seconds.

Its all to play for now as Lyon will come to England to ensure they qualify to the next stage while Manchester United continue to wobble in their own shadows.
