The Ghana Boxing Authority after the death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Segun at the Bukom Boxing Arena has revisited their constitution to bring to the notice of all boxing stakeholders to ensure adherence to the provisions therein to prevent any delays in sanctioning fights.

On a letter dated 5 April 2025, the GBA in a letter addressed to all promoters, matchmakers and media outlets stated that all should take note of.

“The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) extends its compliments to you and writes to remind you of the GBA constitutional provision on the specific period of time you are supposed to officially submit your fight contracts and pairings.

All fight contracts and pairings of any fights’ night are to be submitted to the GBA secretariat two weeks ahead of the fights’ night date.

Failure to abide by this constitutional provision will lead to the cancelation of the bouts to all intents and purposes. In addition, no fights will be allowed to be added to the already submitted fight pairings on the day of weigh-in and medical check-ups. Only bout contracts submitted will be allowed.

You are respectfully advised to submit boxers’ authentic professional licenses together with their medical reports before they will be permitted to weigh-in for the scheduled bouts.

Kindly visit the secretariat with the required documents to avoid any disappointments or untold incidents.

Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) is seriously working on its constitutional provisions and the dictates of the rules book to help protect Ghanaian boxers and all stakeholders in Ghana and beyond.”

It is believed that after the provision of professional licenses and medical reports are provided, the GBA through their secondary means of checks will determine whether or not the are genuine.
