The Ghana Armwrestling Federation and Armwrestling Federation of Africa President, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey who is also the General secretary of the Sports Writers’ Associations of Ghana (SWAG) had seen to the steady growth of armwrestling in Ghana and is gradually taking the sport to many places where it previously wasn’t given the needed attention.
Following a business trip to South Africa, Mr. Osei Asibey who has sworn to make the sport widely accepted in the land and challenge for the world stage laurels met with high profiled likeminded persons who assured him of collaborations in the future.
The Head of Missions at the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa, Mr. Japhet Ofosu Appiah has urged the President of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa and Ghana Armwrestling, Mr. Osei Asibey to engage the government to include the sports in the Binational Corporation Agreement between Ghana and South Africa.
This move aims to strengthen bilateral relations and promote the development of sports, particularly Armwrestling, in both countries. By including the sports in the agreement, the two nations can foster greater cooperation , exchange ideas, and create opportunities for the athletes to compete at the highest levels.
Mr. Ofosu Appiah also went ahead to congratulate the GAF and AFA president on the steady growth of Armwrestling and the recent success in the African Games.
Further information for our cherished readers is that, Mr. Osei Asibey will be the guest of honor at the 2025 National Armwrestling Championship of South Africa, scheduled to take place on the 4th and 5th of April 2025.
