Football has been a game of beauty and love until recently when many supporters have assumed it to be a hatred facial to supporters of opposing teams.

This has brought about lots of violence both in the national team games and club sides but in a recent game held in South Africa scenes from a disrupted violent incident and the act of an individual proved to have captured the eyes of many amidst the chaos.

Mamelodi Sundowns are one of the best teams in the South African league and they have represented the country at many CAF events including the CAF Champions league and others.

The two managers in their post match interview made know the importance of security and fairness but in football, the supporters are directed by their emotions many times than to understand the outcome of any football game can be a win, lose or a draw.

The CAF Champions league tie between Sundowns and Esperance took a sudden twist after supporters of the two teams violently attacked each other.

In the midst of the heat, many would think it will be a perfect time for one to cause more injury or damage to the other supporter but videos and pictures going around from the Loftus Versfeld Stadium showed something really remarkable and needs to be commended.

A fan instead of running for his life rather ran to an opposing fan who was falling of the stands cliff. Finding it difficult to get his foot grounded to climb up and in desperate need of help.

This is not just football a fan extending a hand to another football fan but a human being making us realise hatred is not always negative, this act served as a beacon of light in a dark moment.

A series of such have happened in our local games and this is another headache for CAF as a body.

A similar thing happened when Nigeria lost a world cup qualifier, Accra Hearts of Oak vs Kumasi Asante Kotoko and even in the western leagues.

With many calling for the hero of the day to be found and praised many have also argued that its normal in that circumstances for anyone to act as he did.

CAF now has lots of responsibilities in ensuring such never happens or comes to its minimal but how will that be when supporters take their own initiative although some come about following hate speech or intimidation in the stands.

Sundowns won the tie win a load goal but after the happenings at the stadium, their win has been marred by this dent that might take very long for them to wipe and many other sanctions that might be imposed on them in the future.
