The recent event that happened in Ghana in what has got many wondering what happened and whether the event leading to the death could have been prevented. With both the Ghana Boxing Authority and the General secretary of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control.
The twist of the entire matter is in the statements made by the secretary and whether the Ghana Boxing Authority took heed or just ignored it just to give their audience a fight.
“Unfortunately, they did weigh-in on Thursday and his opponent was found to be overweight and they told him the person he was to fight was not his weight.”
The GBA who has the mandate to ensure all this at the background probably ignored it as he later claimed they (an ambiguous statement) would increase his purse with another $500.
According to Remi Aboderin, there was no agreement reached between the two parties as the money was too little so Gabriel returning to accept the agreement to fight was something they has little to no knowledge of.
The question many have been asking is, did the sanctioning body take the two boxers through the routine medical checks, doping and other necessary measures before the fight? The fighter lost consciousness in the ring and many things seemed to have been taking place.
Are the referees trained enough to handle fights, are they given regular courses to abreast them with how to deal with such situations?
