The Continental Club Masters, Accra Hearts of Oak has made some awesome names as well as signed some awesome players whose addition to the team was awesome in reaching their aim.

Today we look at the star that never shone, Winful Essau Cobbinah, a former Accra Hearts of Oak attacking midfielder who dream of reaching the very top crumbled before his own eyes.

Cobbinah who was always promising on the field of play started his career at BT Professional and then moved to Tudu Mighty Jets and that is where the breakthrough for this gem started.

Cobbinah started to gain traction in the Ghana premier league after joining Accra Hearts of Oak and became the talk of Ghana. His skill and pace were unmatched during his time and looked promising for a better a beautiful career.

Playing just two seasons in the GPL signed to Accra Hearts of Oak, Winful Essau Cobbinah moved on to Najran Sc where things did not go as expected and returned to Accra Hearts of Oak for the 2017-2018 season.

The future for him was still bright and lots of controversies started to enfold with his return to Accra Hearts of oak and his wanting to move on to the west.

Tirana was his next home and he made it worth while but things took a quick turn when injury started to hinder his progress. Cobbinah played two seasons with Tirana and had to move on to Cleopatra where he did another two seasons.

The likes of Tariq Djibril, Benjamin Afutu and many other players who had contractual issues with the Continental Club Masters and weren’t ready to sort it out went on with little reason when they could have sold their craft a bit longer in the GPL.

Cobbinah represented Ghana at he U-17 and U-20 levels, played for the local national team and won a couple of individual laurels and for Ghana.

The question many may be asking now is where is Winful Essua Cobbinah? The player whose ball control was already a problem for many defenders.

Playing currently in the Egyptian Second Division A for Wadi Degla, with little to no news being read about the former Ghana and Accra Hearts of Oak star, it has drawn many to wonder what happened to the promising career of the young and enterprising star.

Winful was a gem and many expected to see him on the big stage but he did not make it and has left many wondering.

The 33yrs old midfielder would soon be thinking retirement of might run out of contract and soon return home to tell the story of his football journey.
