The continental club masters Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak goal keeper, Benjamin Asare has made a very subtile statement after earning a callup into the senior national team the Black Stars.
Benjamin Asare who has been rubbished by many football analysts and supporters of opposing teams in the local league attributing his call-up as bias due to his age and stating reasons to prove he will be irrelevant.
Benjamin Asare as the skipper of the Continental Club Masters Accra Hearts of Oak has been the best goal keeper in the Ghana premier league and the safest pair of hands in the posts for Hearts of Oak.
This argument of whether he was fit for the call-up or whether he was going to warmup the bench was up to the shot stopper who wasn’t ready to throw his dreams away.
Coach Otto Addo who had been under fire for his poor selection and tactics made a strong statement when he started Benjamin Asare in post for Ghana in their world cup qualifier against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Benjamin who has been playing at the Accra Sports Stadium arguably pulled the Phobia crowd who were not ready to let anyone ridicule their own. With eight (8) clean sheets to his name, Benjamin Asare was sure to command his backline and ensure same.
Ghana who were lacking behind won convincingly against Chad in a game where Asare added another clean sheet and also became the first local call-up to keep a clean sheet for the Black Stars after 20years.
His age which used to be a problem for many had now disappeared, his foes have become fans and Benjamin Asare now the star of the Ghana premier league.
Getting the No.1 spot for the Ghana Black stars was just one step away, but Asare has now recorded two clean sheets in his first two games for the senior national team and looks hopeful to remain in shape for the world cup proper which will be taking place in North America.
