Former Ghanaian international and current head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana Otto Addo has been under lots of scrutiny after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the AFCON finals that will be hosted in a northern Africa and needed to redeem himself with many football stakeholders asking for his head.
Football in Ghana both from the local level and national levels have not been in the best of shape but many have still believed the Ghana Black Stars would have easily made it to the AFCON finals in Morocco but the team has been shambolic and missed that opportunity under the Ghanaian gaffer.
The world cup qualifier which has become a crucial must earn sport for the Ghana national team saw supporter trooping into the Accra Sports Stadium to cheer the Black Stars on against Chad.
The only outcome of that game was a win for the hosts as the supporters were expecting nothing less. The team ensured just that make room for them to in their next games.
The game which started with many suggesting there was some tension in the team resolved very early in the game as A. Semenyo gave Ghana an early lead, with the crowd roaring behind the host, all such tension was gone.
The Black Stars meant business and kept pushing to close the game in the early minutes. Inaki Williams prior to the game against Chad was spotted in a video telling the fans he has come home and is going to score a goal on Friday. The Athletic Bilbao forward kept to his promise as he after scoring Ghana’s second goal in the 31st minute.
This was a new Black stars as some of the supporters in the stands shouted, but that wasn’t the end of the show. Current captain of the national team, Jordan Ayew who has not missed any penalty kick for the Black stars had the opportunity to increase the tally for Ghana and his own record and made justice to it.
Ghana was soaring and there was no stopping their shine. Ernest Nuamah who has always been fun to watch made exploits on both right and left flanks making like a living hell for the Chads. His effort didn’t go without notice as he slotted in the forth for the Ghana Black Stars.
Salisu who wasn’t having such a good day got his share of the cake in the 56th minute following a communications error from the defensive setup of the Chad team. The goal which came as a surprise to the defender got stalled his celebration although it added to his tally of goals for the national team.
With a little to nothing, Jordan Ayew who was subbed gave the captains arm band to his deputy who many were suggesting had a riff with Ayew being the new leader. In the end the Arsenal star subtly took the band as Jordan walked off the field.
On the day, the arm band was worn by players as Jordan, Party, and Kudus as Party was subbed since there seemed to be an issue with him wearing the band.
With five goals in bagged, Ghana had one important task which is Madagascar who currently place top of the log with 10 points. Ghana’s chance of clinching a spot for the world cup would mean beating Madagascar to avoid any misjudgments from other teams in the group.
